'Composite Elements' is an exhibition I am currently part of that's showing now until March 3rd 2021, at The Galleria, First floor, 1061 Haupapa Street, (at Rotorua Lakes Council) in Rotorua, New Zealand.
It's a group exhibition with three other diverse New Zealand contemporary painters:
Tania Akehurst, Lianne Maxwell and Joanne Black.
Here is a peek of my work in this exhibition.
Installation Day.
Opening night opening. With Marc Spijkerbosh - Community Public Arts Advisor and co-ordinator, and Councillor Mercia-Dawn Yates.
The 'Lost Series' is my art featured in this group exhibition.
There are 7 artworks in this series.
Six that are acrylic on canvas sheet, framed under glass.
And one framed box canvas work that is mixed media.
The ‘Lost Series’ of acrylic works is an infusion of Japanese influences, Western printmaking and word art elements.
This contemporary mix of techniques and styles offer the viewer simple expressions, a colour tone that is completely neutral, with the addition of deliberate hints of iridescent blue.
The deeper spiritual message in these artworks conveys the thought that ‘when one is LOST and unable to find your way, time spent in the beauty of nature will revive the soul through wholesome sensory awareness that gives the mind a calmness and newfound motivation to carry on’.
“All the trees are losing their leaves, and not one of them is worried”
